On October 7, a new documentary, Fingerprints, premieres at the Mill Valley Film Festival. It chronicles the long-distance collaboration of two music programs for kids, one in Haiti and one in the Bay Area; they recorded two songs “together”—Jack White’s “We’re Going to Be Friends” and a Haitian folk song “Panama Me Tombe.”
Tonight on The Hear and Now, Lorrie Murray, founder and executive director of the Bay Area Music Project (and past manager of the Stork Club and member/manager of Idiot Flesh), Dren McDonald (video game composer, arranger, producer, and musician with Giant Ant Farm), and filmmaker Don Hardy will be in the studio to talk with host Derk Richardson about the music programs and the documentary. We’ll hear the music and discuss the origins and logistics of the project.
