Host Derk Richardson welcomes Avotcja and Michelle Jacques to “The Hear and Now” to talk about and share music from their respective groups — Avotcja & Modúpue and CHELLE! and Friends — to preview their upcoming double bill — “Tradition on the Fringe” — this Saturday night, September 8, at Ashkenaz in Berkeley.
We’ll also celebrate the life and honor the passing of jazz pianist, composer, arranger, bandleader Randy Weston, who died September 1 at age 92.
And we’ll hear music from the Bay Area country band Crying Time‘s new album, “Last Saturday Night,” and give away some tickets to their George Jones tribute show at the Freight & Salvage in Berkeley on Sunday, September 9.
