Join Maria Finn, author of the recently published cookbook, Forage. Gather. Feast., and her truffle dog, Flora Jayne, for a stroll on Saturday, June 29th, 10 am -12 pm in Golden Gate Park in SF. A copy of the book will be sent to all who sign up for the event. Learn about the flora and fungi, along with the visions and forces of personality that created it.

As beautiful as the roses are, as fun as the concerts, as fabulous as the museums, the story of Golden Gate Park is one of trees and Romantic Ideals. Of believing that nature improves the spirits and character of people trapped in urban squalor. And so two million trees later the windswept dunes of San Francisco's Outerlands became Golden Gate Park. We'll walk through Golden Gate park, identifying early summer edibles, like miners lettuce and chickweed, rose geraniums, blackberries, currants and redwood tips. We'll talk about the history of the park and urban foraging ethics for 1.5 hours, and then have a tasting of wild foods like smoked and pickled mushrooms and brie with candied pine cones.
