America/Los_Angeles ON REPAIRING TIES TO INDIGENOUS CEREMONY & CULTURE THROUGH ART

CIIS Public Programs presents: “On Repairing Ties to Indigenous Ceremony & Culture Through Art.” The presentation takes place on Thursday, July 25, from 6pm to 7:30 pm.

The discussion is led by Choctaw multimedia artist Tricia Rainwater whose wide-ranging work is rooted in themes of identity and grief.

Her artistic practice offers a perspective through the lens of a Choctaw survivor. The artist grew up in nature and in ceremony, but her relationship with family and ancestry have been shaped by the long tentacles of united states policy and practice towards indigenous peoples.

The discussion takes place at the California Institute of Integral Studies, located at 1453 Mission Street in San Francisco.
