August 21, 2025 is the sixth annual California Public Radio Day! We’re excited to celebrate with you, fellow public radio stations, and supporters all across the state on this day of unity, especially during this critical time.
The numbers are stark: Local public media stations in California have lost over $55 million in federal funding that was supposed to come from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) over the next two years. While KPFA does not rely on federal funding, this loss is going to have a drastic effect on thousands of stations across the country, including dozens in California alone.
Each day reporters, DJs, engineers, producers, and staff across California work to bring you this essential service. It’s more vital than ever to donate today to keep KPFA strong and freely accessible to all.
Public radio is worthy of your support: it’s a vital lifeline, providing trusted news and programming, enriching music, and a sense of community across our state free for all to access. It’s where you turn for reliable information and cultural connection to enhance your life and separate fact from fiction.
You have the power to ensure that public radio has a resilient future in our state, providing a platform for diverse voices and stories that matter.
Will you stand with us to make a difference in your community?
