The Hear and Now

The Hear & Now – December 21, 2006

this episode is no longer available

Nevada City-bred guitarist/songwriter Noah Georgeson performs live in the on-air studio, joined by Peter Newsom on percussion.

Although he grew up playing music with fellow guitarist Gyan Riley (for intimate audiences that included Gyan’s father, Terry Riley), studied guitar under classical virtuoso Pepe Romero, and received his Master’s degree in music from Mills College, Noah Georgeson is best known as an MVP in the burgeoning freak-folk scene-as a supporting musician and recording producer for everyone from Joanna Newsom, Devendra Banhart, and his own band, The Pleased, to British folk legend Bert Jansch. With his first solo album, Find Shelter (Plain Recordings), just released last month, he brings his deft guitar playing and unique songwriting in the KPFA studio, with Peter Newsom joining in on percussion.
