OU is a quirky, funky, jazzy sextet based in Rome, with three women from Sardinia and three men from Rome, plus Amy Denio as producer and musical partner. Instrumentation includes flugelhorn, ukulele, alto & soprano saxophones, piano, Fender Rhodes, Hammond B3 organ, electric bass, drums, kalimba, glockenspiel, vibraphone, and clarinet, plus vocals (in English, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, and Sardinian). OU launches its debut West Coast tour, in support of its first album, “Pisces Crisis,” on Friday at the Red Poppy Art House in SF and Saturday at Duende in Oakland. Tonight they visit “The Hear and Now” for an interview with host Derk Richardson and tracks from the brand new recording.
