Today is April Fool’s Day but this is no joke. I’m posting this today since yesterday was a station holiday, so it’s pushed back to today. But these are the 5 songs I’ve been obsessed with in March, so let’s march on…
Songs to Obsess Over n Over… (Sooo…)
MARCH 2026
by Mike Biggz, KPFA Music Director

Jungle – Carry On
(Carola )
Jungle returns with the lead single to a much anticipated follow up to their flawless 2023 release, Volcano. Now with certified 3rd member, lead vocalist Lydia Kitto, they drop “Carry On”, a distance cousin to their song Back on 74. It share a similar swing, tempo and when the hook drops and Kitto belts out the words Carry On, it shares a key with Back on 74 and feels like it’s designed to blend perfectly in live sets with each other. But this one has a bit more of melancholic feel and even has hints of a classic country or Americana vibe. It’s beautiful and designed to hit you in the feels.
Curió Curió – Bem Querer
(Mr Bongo)
The duo seemingly coming out of nowhere, Curió Curió, release their incredible debut single on indie label Mr Bongo, one of the few guaranteed to be great labels I trust wholeheartedly. Bem Querer and it’s B-Side, Amor Doente bring a twist on Música Popular Brasileira (MPB) with a disco vibe, featuring Rio born and Austria based vocalist, songwriter and actress, Luiza Monteiro shines with her beautiful vocal that coasts acorss the music of producer and musician Dustin Braun from Germany. It’s one of the most addictive singles I’ve heard all year. Available currently as a 7”, I hope they get an album deal and release much much more music as I think this is missing and needed right now.
GENA – Who’s Got A Problem With GENA?
(Lex)
GENA, a project from drummer & producer Karriem Riggins & vocalist Liv.e is by far one of the year’s best albums. Riggins brings his signature Detroit soul sound that was everywhere during the Dilla, Platinum Pied Pipers, Sa-Ra era, with Liv.’s versatile and crazy vocal range that brings these tracks to life to drop some cosmic funk for the soul. The entire album is a non skip ride but I had to highlight the album’s opener because I haven’t been able to get it’s hook “Who’s Got A Problem With GENA?” out of my head. It’s a song and hook that sticks with you. But it’s also a mid-tempo head nodder banger. Don’t sleep on this one.
Dina Ogon – Människobarn
(Playground)
Four Piece Stockholm based dream pop artist Dina Ogon return with their latest studio album, Människobarn, all sung in their native Swedish over some mellow grooves that almost at times give a yacht rock vibe to them.
I’m highlighting the album’s title track and opener, a nice mid-tempo, feel good song which translates to Child of Man. I have no idea what the lyrics are since I don’t speak Swedish but it sounds so good in the ears, I could care less, I just vibe along. But when you do translate the lyrics, you realize it’s a great song with a great message. You can do that part on your own, but it’s worth it.
Fcukers – Butterfly
(Ninja Tune)
My favorite group who’s name you can’t say on the radio is back with their debut full length LP, “Ö”. A Very solid release from top to bottom, filled with some speaker destroying bass heavy beats by Jackson Walker Lewis over Shanny Wise’s silky soft vocals, that contrast extremely well together. Butterfly is an album cut I’d like to highlight as a long time fan of UK Garage, this one bumps so hard and has that beauty most classic vocal Garage tunes are known for that you might hear on a Sunship remix. This group can effortlessly pull off any genre in the overall umbrella of Electronic Dance Music.
