In Your Ear – May 6, 2006

Former Puerto Rican political prisoner, Alicia Rodriguez, who spent over 19 years in U.S. prisons for her actions on behalf of Puerto Rican independence, will be interviewed by program host Art Sato. Alicia will speak about the art exhibit, "Not Enough Space: Art by Oscar Lopez Rivera and Carlos Alberto Torres" which will be at the Mission Cultural Center
(www.missionculturalcenter.org) from May 19 through June 16. The exhibit commemorates the 25th anniversary of the imprisonment of the still imprisoned political prisoners, Lopez Rivera and Torres. There will be an opening reception on May 19, 6-10pm at the Mission Cultural Center featuring Jose Lopez, Director of the Puerto Rican Cultural Center in Chicago and brother of Oscar Lopez Rivera, and the music of the John Santos Quintet with Orestes Vilato, John Calloway, Saul Sierra, Marco Diaz. The interview with Alicia Rodriguez is scheduled for 4:30pm. The remainer of "In Your Ear" will feature a wide sampling of Latin Music.
