Indigenous Activists Confront US Politicians At COP23

Climate justice activists at this year’s United Nations COP23 meeting in Bonn, Germany, confronted both speakers promoting fossil fuels at a White House panel, and California governor Jerry Brown. On today’s show we’ll speak with two indigenous activists Isabella Zizi and Daniel Ilario, from the US who were part of those actions. Then, we’ll spend the rest of the hour with author Sasha Polakow-Suranski, former Op-Ed editor at the New York Times, about his new book, Go Back To Where You Came From: The Backlash Against Immigration and the Fate of Western Democracy. The book focuses on European backlash to immigrants and refugees and how there is a dangerous cross-pollination between racists in Europe and the US.
