KPFA’s automation allows for there to be scheduled content playing in the background at all times. It is also where carts to be played at the top of the hour are played from.
Prerecorded shows are loaded to automation and played by simply turning on and fading up the automation fader.
Evergreens are loaded to automation providing a safety net in case an emergency happens during a live show, or if a programmer does not show up for their scheduled shift.
To bring up automation, simply turn on and bring up the automation fader on the board.
Board operators are responsible for playing the scheduled carts at the top of the hour.
What are the benefits of Automation?
1. Minimizing the amount of Dead Air on the airwaves.
2. Minimizing the stress to your coworkers in the event you can’t make it to the station. There will be content for them to play.
If automation does not work, play backup music from a CD and notify the Engineering Department.
