Our top priority is to keep everyone and their families healthy. KPFA will abide by the existing CDC and OSHA workplace protocols for health and safety. We understand that every person’s situation is different and encourage those with specific risks or concerns to reach out to their manager and discuss alternate arrangements, should they be necessary.

Current Station Health and Safety Protocols

    • If you are sick, stay home and notify management via [email protected], regardless of your volunteer or employee status. Do not enter the building if you have COVID-19 symptoms or have been exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19.
      • Do not allow guests to enter the building if they have COVID-19 symptoms or have been exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19.
    • Masks are encouraged within the building and studios. If there is a spike in Covid cases, you will be asked to wear a mask in the building.
      • Face masks must be worn to cover both mouth and nose. Masks are available when you enter the front or the side of the building.
      • For large group meetings, we encourage you to either: 1) meet outdoors, 2) meet in a large ventilated space that allows for social distancing or 3) meet virtually.
      • Please keep in mind that everyone has different comfort levels.
    • Maintain the 6-feet social distance rule.
    • Wash your hands upon entering and leaving the building, and do so regularly. Hand sanitizers are also available throughout the building.
    • Ensure that all working areas are cleaned before and after use (countertops, boards, phones, computer keyboards, etc.). Also, ensure that air filters are turned at all times in the control rooms and studios.

The Health and Safety Committee is made up of members from KPFA management and staff, as described in the KPFA union contract to monitor health and safety conditions in the station and to review any complaints around health and safety.
