Steve Wasserman, Executive Director of Heyday Books, formerly worked in Los Angeles as an assistant to Robert Scheer before becoming deputy assistant editor of the LA Times Sunday opinion pages. Following that, he moved to New York to take over as editor in chief of New Republic Books. He also served as editorial director of Times Books and publisher of Hill & Wang..He returned to the LA Times in 1996 to become editor of the book review, a position he held until 2005. For all of that, Steve graduated from Berkeley High School and remains profoundly Berkeleyan.
