KPFA’s LEGACY CIRCLE is sponsoring a workshop at no cost for people who want to participate at any level in efforts to sustain KPFA as a treasured independent media voice through bequests, legacies and community building. With conversation, and sharing of resources we will explore possibilities for conscious planning for the future of KPFA, ourselves and our loved ones.

  • Creating a meaningful legacy: We will hear about possibilities to sustain KPFA’s independent insightful journalism, inspiring music and culture for generations to come and for the future of our amazing and challenged planet. KPFA Local Station Board Secretary Carol Wolfley and KPFA Development Director Brooke Caputo will talk about experiences with planned giving.

  • Exploring conscious choices through transitions: We will share natural ways to honor our bodies and the earth at the end of life: at home, in nature and through cherished traditions. We will explore possibilities for self connection and deep communication, artistic expression, and music. Guest speakers, Kathleen Gustin will help us explore ways of nurturing ourselves and our loved ones, opening to the unknown and practices for staying present to the moment. Linda McAllister will share about culture and community resources for end of life choices.

Kathleen Gustin, is a Zen Buddhist Nun, who has been assisting people in peacefully moving through transitions in life, and at the end of life, for over 40 years. Her practice is dedicated to honoring the precious life that fills us.

Linda McAllister, PhD is an Instructor of Sociology in the Department of Social Sciences at Berkeley City College. Her work focuses on death education and building connections       between individuals involved in various aspects of deathwork.
