In addition to presenting Jonathan Lethem’s new book, Lucky Alan and Other Stories, host Richard Lowinsky will interview the great novelist about his entire life and career. A book-signing will follow.

Jonathan Lethem is the New York Times bestselling author of nine novels and a new book of short stories, Lucky Alan, plus the collection of essays, The Ecstasy of Influence, a National Book Critics Circle finalist. A recipient of the MacArthur Fellowship and winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction, Lethem’s work has appeared in The New Yorker, Harper’s Magazine, Rolling Stone, Esquire, and many other publications.

“Jonathan Lethem’s imagination seemingly knows no bounds…Comparisons might be drawn to writers ranging from Jorge Luis Borges and Haruki Murakami to Margaret Atwood and J.D. Salinger.”
– Chicago Tribune

“Lethem is, of course, a king of sentences…he works in an interesting literary space between realism and absurdism, modernism and post-modernism, satire and a particular brand of DeLillo-inspired darkness…His talent is as large and, as these new stories (Lucky Alan) demonstrate, his eye is as sharp as ever.”
– New York Times Book Review

Richard Wolinsky has been with KPFA since 1976. He co-hosted and produced “Probabilities,” a program devoted to science fiction, mystery and mainstream fiction, from 1977 to 1995 on KPFA-FM. Since 2002 he has hosted a popular show of literary interviews called “Bookwaves.”
