Rising Up With Sonali 8am – September 8, 2017

Hurricane Irma, dubbed “one of the most powerful storms in history,” is wreaking devastation across the Caribbean as it heads to Florida, barely as Texans have begun their recovery efforts from Hurricane Harvey. On today’s show we’ll speak with Thanu Yakupitiyage of 350.org about putting these storms into the climate context. Then, California is disproportionately impacted by Trump’s announcement to end the DACA program. But state officials and activists have a plan to turn California into a sanctuary state to protect all undocumented immigrants. Set Hernandez Rongkilyo of the National Day Laborer Organizing Network will explain what SB 54 is and why it is important. Finally Liza Featherstone will join us to discuss leaked excerpts of Hillary Clinton’s new book, What Happened, where Clinton essentially blames Bernie Sanders for her election loss last year. Hosted by Sonali Kolhatkar.
