The painting is called “Harlem Series: Harlem Hospital’s Free Clinic Is Crowded with Patients Every Morning and Evening”, It was painted by Jacob Lawrence in 1943. Jacob Lawrence was one of the first nationally recognized African American artists. At one point in his life he was deeply depressed and entered a hospital for a lengthy stay.
