We present the voices of two U.S. radical feminists of color in the U.S who have been challenging the mainstream movement to stop violence against women for its reliance on law enforcement and incarceration. These activists link violence against women of color to colonization and racism. They actively work with alternatives to incarceration and call for a re-imagining of justice and healing

This past week some of these activists and scholars gathered at UC Berkeley to collaborate and further this discussion. we bring you two talks from this conference. We begin with Prof. Beth E. Richie talking about her new book, Arrested Justice: Black Women, Violence, and America’s Prison Nation. Then we’ll hear a talk by Sujatha Baliga, from the National Council on Crime & Delinquency, about the Delhi victim and how transformative justice could transform communities of color.
