On Thursday, February 21, Justseeds Artists’ Cooperative, Culturestr/ke, and the Center for Political Education held the West Coast opening of the “Migration Now” Print Portfolio. The exhibition includes work by renowned cartoonists, labor organizers, street art provocateurs, and culture workers from across North America.

The opening included performances by spoken word artists; Shining Soul, a hip-hop crew out of Arizona, and the Filipino Caregiver Theater Ensemble.

Tonight, you’ll hear an excerpt of the panel moderated Robynn Takayama at the event which contextualizes the role of cultural workers in the immigrant rights movement. Panelists include Mario de Mira, MC with Power Struggle and workers rights program coordinator with the Filipino Community Center; Edwin Herrera, a member of Migrante Northern California, visual artist Melanie Cervantes with Dignidad Rebelde, and Marco Antonio Flores, recipient of the Judith Lee Stronach Visiting Scholar award.
