The People’s Movement Against Nuclear Energy has been picking up steam in their organizing against the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant in the southernmost part of India.

People in Tamil Nadu have been organizing opposition to this power plant since 1988 when the Indian and Russian governments collaborated with big energy corporations and agreed to build this plant with no public information or input.

APEX Contributor Marie Choi sat down with V. Geetha and Nityanand Jayaraman, members of the Chennai solidarity group, who have been working on the ground to support the protests against the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant. October is Filipino American History Month, which was established by the Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS), and for this month APEX Contributor R.J. Lozada does an informal tour of one the South of Market, otherwise known as SoMA. Daly City, Union City, Vallejo, and Milpitas are all well-known and established communities, and SoMa is unique among them because it lies so close to the heart of San Francisco. While not a comprehensive tour, R.J. takes a walk for a couple hours talking to service providers, organizers, business owners, and other folks in the South of Market.
