Celebrating 30 years of recording, Michigan-based singer-songwriter Claudia Schmidt returns to KPFA on the eve of her performance at the Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse, Friday, March 27. Long known as folk artist and storyteller (both poignant and humorous), Schmidt has been singing jazz of late—and anything she sings is golden. www.claudiaschmidt.com

One of the most highly regarded fingerstyle guitarists of a generation rife with them, and a master of blues, ragtime, Appalachian, and Celtic idioms, Duck Baker drops in to preview his new concert program of solo guitar versions of compositions that span the entire history of jazz, from Scott Joplin to John Coltrane, with visits no doubt to Thelonious Monk and Herbie Nichols. He’ll perform the full program at the Freight & Salvage on Sunday, March 29.
