Special Broadcast

Country and Western musicians with disabilities – May 30, 2014

Most listeners of contemporary popular music
don’t know that the legendary Hank Williams, the
singer songwriter of “Your Cheatin’ Heart,” was
affected by spinal bifida. Tomorrow, Friday,
May 30 at 2:30 pm on KPFA 94.1 fm or kpfa.org
Eddie Ytuarte and Josh Elwood tell us how Williams’
spinal problems interacted with his private life
and his career.

The world-famous Doc Watson was a blind man,
as was Ronnie Milsap who was chosen for the Country
Music Hall of Fame this year. Musicians with disabilities
are all over the Country and Western music landscape.

Acquaint yourselves with some of them as Pushing Limits
continues to cover the very broad range of disability
culture.
