PRECITA EYES IN CONJUNCTION WITH BLOCK PRINT ARTIST, JODI MULLEN Presenting the art of EMMY LOU PACKARD

Peace is a Human Right

This exhibition of reprinted artwork from the original linoleum blocks and printing press of Emmy Lou Packard (1914–1998) will be on display at the Precita Eyes Muralists booth at the KPFA Summer Arts Fair. Packard was a close friend and colleague of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, and a well-known artist in her own right. She painted murals in San Francisco and Berkeley, was Diego Rivera’s chief assistant on the Pan American Unity mural for the Golden Gate International Exposition, helped Frida with her artwork, and lived with the couple for a time in Mexico. In addition, Emmy Lou Packard was an active member of the community mural movement in San Francisco’s Mission District. She also worked as an illustrator at Richmond’s Kaiser Shipyard, by the site of what is now the Craneway Pavilion, home of the KPFA Summer Arts Fair
