Phil Elwood Music Library Dedication

Phil Elwood was a longtime San Fransisco Bay Area music critic and host of the weekly radio program on KPFA, “Jazz Archive,” from 1952 until 1996, that’s 44 years. KPFA will dedicate it’s music library in his honor on Saturday, December 3rd, 2016 from 1:00pm-2:00pm, followed by an on-air documentary on Phil’s life from 2:00pm – 4:00pm. Phil rubbed elbows with many musicians and music enthusiasts throughout his long career. We’ve put a sampling of photos of Phil below:

  1. I would love to re=experience Phil’s programs… I jusyt played Montmarte by Djano Rinehart, which was his theme tune, and nearly cried just remembering his warm knowlegeable presentaions… Jazz lives!
