In this episode, we were lucky enough to catch up with Daryle and James during the annual anti-fascist Torch Network Conference. The conference was timely, as it took place only days after Donald Trump was made President Elect and during the conference, Trump announced that Steve Bannon, his former campaign manager and editor of BreitBart which has ties to the Alternative Right, would become his top adviser. Meanwhile, other key figures on the right, from Newt Gingrich, to Joe Arpaio, to Rudy Giuliani were also being groomed to take a seat inside the new regime. Trump stated in his first interview after winning the electoral college that he was going to remain good on his word to deport millions of people. Meanwhile, across the US and the world, people took to the streets in freeway blockades, riots, school walkouts, and mass marches.
Wanting to get a better sense about what to expect from the far-Right in the streets and also in their attempts to try and worm their way into the state, we talked with Daryle Lamont Jenkins from One People’s Project about his thoughts on the coming period for anti-fascist action. The longer part of the episode is spent talking with James, a long time participant in anti-fascist and anarchist circles. James goes deep into an analysis of the election and the class, economic, and political breakdown of this current cycle and the realities that gave context to the campaign. We then switch gears and discuss the implications of the Trump regime and how people should take the threats of Trump seriously and prepare in earnest.
This is perhaps one of the most important episodes we have recorded due to it’s timeliness. If you’re wanting to listen to something that is going to inspire you and also scare you into getting organized in your area; this is the episode to do just that.
Listen, take it in, and get ready.
