7am – Breaking update on the Carr Fire and Mendocino complex fires

Gary Ferguson (@GaryAFergusonis an award-winning author and speaker focused on ecology and conservation. He’s the author of Land on Fire: The New Reality of Wildfire in the West, and joins us to discuss today’s climate conditions, wildfire ecology, politics, and what can be done to address California’s “new norm” of wildfire year-round. 

8am – Earthquake preparedness in the Bay Area

Jennifer Strauss is the External Relations Officer at UC Berkeley Seismology Lab and Regional Coordinator for ShakeAlert Northern California. She is a co-author of the HayWired Earthquake Scenario.

Dr. Anne Wein is a principal investigator with the United States Geological Survey (USGS) in the Western Geographic Science Center, Menlo Park, California and co-editor of the HayWired Earthquake Scenario — Engineering Implications, which was released last month.

Khalid Mosalam is a Professor of Structural Engineering at UC Berkeley and Director of the Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research Center.
