On our show today well discuss three health-related stories. First, investigative journalist Mary Beth Pfeiffer has written an urgent new book Lyme: The First Epidemic of Climate Change. She’ll explain what Lyme disease is, how it is spreading more rapidly, and how little we know about its testing and treatment. Then, a new investigative report by Orb Media studying bottled water has found disturbing levels of microplastic contamination across manufacturers and countries. Journalist Chris Tyree who co-authored the report will explain what it means. Finally, environmental toxicologist Emily Monosson joins us to discuss her new book, Natural Defense: Enlisting Bugs and Germs to Protect Our Food and Health.
