Education Secretary Betsy DeVos displays a stunning ignorance of the nation’s public school system she oversees. Her recent 60 Minutes interview comes on the heels of West Virginia’s historic and victorious teachers’ strike and the persistent conservative demand to arm teachers in response to school shootings. We’ll turn to our education correspondent, Kevin Kumashiro to address these stories. Then, as US Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson visits Africa for the first time, we’ll spend the rest of the hour with writer and activist Lee Wengraf about her new book ‘Extracting Profit: Imperialism, Neoliberalism, and the New Scramble for Africa’. Wengraf put in historical context Africa’s poverty and the foreign exploitation of its resources.
