Rivian Berlin: Rivian Berlin retired from the staff of New College of California in the summer of 2006. She began her internship with Women's Magazine in the fall, following up on a long-term dream of doing journalism. She has been an avid fan and supporter of KPFA for years, helping to launch North Bay for KPFA during the 1999 conflict. Her goal is to bring the good news of how women are stepping up to the plate and taking responsibility for helping to create the world we all want to live in.

Liz Cabrera: Liz Cabrera is a 23-year-old woman with many passions, including the study of cultural identity, film and soccer. She is a border hybrid, the U.S./Mexico border has become a definitive symbol in her life. Liz emphasizes the importance of attention to the small things in her daily interaction with other human beings. Communication is a fundamental building block of social change. So, she hopes to use her voice, words and images to express herself so that others may be inspired to do the same. She currently works as a production assistant at LinkTV, where she translates Spanish-language news from Venezuela and Mexico and assists in producing Global Pulse, a show that looks at the news and how it is covered around the world.

Lisa Dettmer: Lisa Dettmer is a feminist dyke activist. She has a law degree from New College of California School of Law and has worked in the area of police brutality, tenant rights and Women's and Queers' issues. She is one of the founding members of KPFA's Women's Magazine and hopes to help take feminist radio national.

Natasha Green: Natasha Green is a Black lesbian feminist who believes there's nothing better than the intimacy of dialogue. She graduated with a BA in political science and a minor in gender and women's studies from UC-Berkeley. Natasha is currently working for corporate America by day, but by night she volunteers for KPFA radio, where her passion lies. Her first piece was an interview with documentary filmmaker, Aishah Simmons, on the film "NO!" about rape in the African-American community. It was a controversial and emotional piece that was well-received by listeners. In her spare time, she does diversity consulting for the Monster Diversity Leadership Program, as well as traveling to random destinations with her girlfriend.

Silvia Ledezma:Silvia Ledezma was born in San Francisco and has a Master of Arts in Visual Studies from UC-Berkeley. She has produced segments at KPFA with La Onda Bajita and The Labor Report (2005-06). as well as collaborating on La Raza Chronicles and Women's Magazine. Areas of interest are labor Issues, art, culture, and Latino America.

Safi wa Nairobi: Safi wa Nairobi has been producing with Women's Magazine since it began airing in June of 2005. She is a human-rights advocate, community activist on behalf of people with disabilities and a woman of African descent.

Kate Raphael: Kate Raphael is a 40-something radical dyke activist with over 25 years in anti-militarist, feminist and anti-assimilationist queer movements. She spent 18 months working with the International Women's Peace Service in Palestine; other than that time, she's always made her living from clerical work (and still do). Raphael is especially interested in airing the voices of all groups of women workers, women who bring feminist analysis to other progressive movements, and looking at the pervasive sexism in the left.

Jovelyn Richards: Jovelyn Richards is a born storyteller. Her oral and written work often speaks to the evolution of humanity. Her characters are people that lead unheard, and many times invisible, lives. Many of the characters are inspired by the work Jovelyn has been committed to. Working in disenfranchised communities, whose economical and political voice is rarely heard. Jovelyn sees radio as being another resource to support authentic communication for the empowerment of a global community.

Preeti Shekar: Preeti Shekar is a producer with Women's Magazine. A journalist from India with a Masters in Women's Studies, Preeti is interested in exploring the processes of globalization and international development from a critical gendered perspective and its impact on women in the global south. Preeti also interviews South Asian feminist artists, activists and academics based in the U.S. and in South Asia.

Meri Simon: Meri Simon has been a photojournalist for 27 years and is currently working at the San Jose Mercury News. She covers everything including news, sports and entertainment and has done in-depth coverage of issues such as domestic violence, medicinal cannabis and the fat-liberation movement. She has started to produce slide shows for the web, adding audio to her photographs. This has taught her the power of sound and has drawn her into radio.

Catalina Vazquez: Catalina Vazquez, or Cat, was born and raised in Los Angeles. She began her journey with social justice at the age of 16 when she joined a grassroots organization run by young people of color. Cat moved to Oakland in 2003 to attend Mills College. She will be the first in her family to graduate college, with a BA in Ethnic Studies. She plans to go on to Oregon to work on her Masters in journalism. Her goal is to continue using journalism as a tool for change. When not working she likes to run, rock climb and read. She currently lives in Oakland with her partner, Sam, and adorable kitty, Nina.
