APEX Express

APEX Express – August 21, 2008

This week, contributing producer C.S. Soong talks with the Vietnamese-Australian writer Nam Le, author of the highly acclaimed short-story collection "The Boat."

We take a trip to the Mien Farming Collaborative in Sonul, California and hear about the farm in it’s first year.  Six Mien families farmed a two acre parcel that yielded over 2,000 pounds of fruit and vegetables.

Finally, Adelaide Chen came back from the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. We will hear from her and Youjeong Oh, a grad student at UC Berkeley about the influence and success of the pro-democracy movement in Korea in 1987, just prior to the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, and its relevance to the current games in Beijing.
