Women’s Magazine – February 19, 2007

Today, in honor of Black History month, KPFA Radio’s Women’s Magazine will look at the women who helped shape the civil rights movement and women of color activist who are still at the forefront in creating social change particularly in the academic world.

On today’s show we will talk to women who are organizing the upcoming U.C. Berkeley 22nd annual Empowering Women of Color conference. And we will hear voices from the women who were at the forefront of the civil rights movement women like Shirley Chisholm Barbara Jordan, and Amelia Boynton Robinson. Lastly, we feature an interview with Daphne Muse, director of the Women’s Leadership Institute at Mills College and another veteran of the civil rights movement who is bringing her activism into the Ivory Tower.
