LEBANESE OIL SLICK, the devastating war on the sea, the environment, all creation calls all activists! Three weeks ago, the Israeli bombing of the oil tanks at the Jiyyeh power plant has resulted in an oil slick, 130 kilometers long and 30 kilometers wide, covering Lebanon’s beaches, now moving into Syria, and perhaps onward to Turkey, Cyprus and Greece. Our guest, Wael Hmaidan coordinator of the oil spill working group in Lebanon, will delineate how the timing could not be worse. Endangered sea turtle eggs have just hatched, and all the baby turtles are dying. Clean-up has not yet begun due to Israeli embargo. What must we do.
