Voices of the Middle East and North Africa – February 16, 2005

This week, John Young and Johayna Marlow of the Middle
East Radio Project are joined in the studio by Dr. Jess
Ghannam for an exclusive, in-depth interview. Based
in San Francisco, Jess Ghannam is a psychoanalyst,
human rights activist, and documentary filmmaker. He
has been working on describing the psychological
effects of torture, occupation, and war in Palestine.
He writes, directs, and produces documentaries related
to human rights issues in the Arab World.

We talk with Jess Ghannam about the making of the
superb new Palestinian film Until When… of which
he is the Associate Producer. The film, set during
the current Intifada, follows the lives of
Palestinians in Dheisheh Refugee Camp near Bethlehem.
Join us for this compelling interview, in which we
feature excerpts from this new film and its original
soundtrack, and in which Professor Ghannam talks about
the making of Until When…. We discuss with Jess
the significance of the film and its themes in the
Palestinian struggle for justice. Thanks to the
Until When
