A peace deal for the embattled Iraqi city of Najaf — brokered by the
country’s most respected Shiite cleric …under the deal the fighters loyal
Muqtada Al-Sadr must leave the sacred Imam Ali shrine by tomorrow
morning. ..U.S. forces are to withdraw from the holy city shortly thereafter,
and Najaf is to become a weapons free zone

Iraqi Police apparently attempt to intimidate journalists reporting from
Najaf.. Iraqi insurgents execute an Italian journalist held hostage after
Italy refuses to withdraw its troops from Iraq

Republicans finish work on the draft of their party platform.. .it calls for
constitutional amendments banning same sex marriage and abortion…

the start the Republican National Convention still days away but demonstrations are
already underway

Demonstrations throughout the state of California calling on the governor to
live up to his promise to sign a drivers license bill for undocumented immigrants

And the number of Americans living in poverty and those without health
insurance up for the third straight year
